About Me

Toby is Head of Dispute Resolution at Hedges, having joined the practice as a Solicitor in 2013.

Dealing with all aspects of dispute resolution, Toby takes a creative and commercially-minded approach to problem-solving for his clients, whatever the issue may be.Toby is a Solicitor Advocate and as such is qualified to represent clients as an advocate in the higher courts in England and Wales. He regularly conducts advocacy in the County Court.Toby’s clients range from multinational organisations to commercial landlords, and from independent schools to private individuals. He has achieved successful outcomes for his clients in relation to breach of contract, professional negligence, inheritance, franchise agreements, and claims arising from trusts. Toby is a member of the Property Litigation Association and advises landlords on a range of contentious commercial and residential property matters, including possession and damage to property.Toby appreciates the need for exploring settlement where possible. He has experience of successful mediations, and will always remind clients of the need to consider making or accepting strategic offers throughout the course of litigation. In October 2015, Toby became an ADR accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator and is an ardent proponent of the mediation process.

Passionate about encouraging the next generation of lawyers, Toby heads up the Hedges Law Essay Competition which offers an opportunity for students aged between 15 - 18 to compete for a Internships each year.
